Based loosely on Puccini’s La Boheme, Jonathan Larson’s RENT follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York’s Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.
Set in the East Village of New York City, RENT is about falling in love, finding your voice and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, RENT has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Stage Coach Theatre would like to sincerely thank the Pride Foundation for their grant, helping make live community theater possible.
Founded in 1985, Pride Foundation is a regional community foundation serving the Northwest region of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington that awards annual scholarships and grants to organizations and individuals supporting the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer community. Pride Foundation envisions a world in which all LGBTQ youth, adults, and families enjoy the freedom to live safely, openly, and genuinely. In 2013, Pride Foundation awarded nearly $300,000 in grant f
unding and $400,000 in scholarships in its 5 states, including $64,000 to organizations and students in Idaho. Past grant recipients have included ACLU of Idaho, Boise Gay Men’s Chorus, ALPHA (Allies Linked for the Prevention of HIV and AIDS), Boise/Treasure Valley Chapter of PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays), and Boise Contemporary Theater.
